A message from our Founders
AfrikBoutik.com was born out of our passion for the African Continent, and the
need to bring authentic
African products
right to your doorsteps. As occasional visitors to Africa, we had often yearned
for the quality products which we could find only when we visited the African
Continent.
All of the products
featured are indigenous to West Africa; thus most people are unable to enjoy
Authentic exquisite works of
art,
diverse
traditional clothing,
cultural
djembe drums, unique
jewelry and exotic
gifts unless they
visit Africa.
AfrikBoutik was
designed to address this problem. Why not create an e-commerce site which brings
the best that Africa has to offer directly to you?
It is common
knowledge that Africa offers some of the highest quality products and gifted
craftsmen. The millions of tourists who visit Africa year after year, return
home with many of the products which we offer on this site.
AfrikBoutik was
founded by
Joseph K. Bilson and Rainford B. Legair in
2005.
Joseph, who was born and raised in Ghana, West
Africa, makes his home there today, and is an authority on African art and its
importance in African culture.
Brian, of Caribbean Afro-decent takes great
pride in his African heritage and has a strong connection and love of the
African culture.
Brian and his longtime friend Joseph
whose love for Africa quickly becomes apparent by the quality of products,
services offered on this site. As part of their strong love and commitment
to the people of Ghana and other African countries, Brian and Joseph are
dedicating 5% of all sales to the aid of the under privileged – mainly the
disabled and those who can’t afford to pay for their basic schooling or basic
medical fees.
Many of the artists represented on
Afrik-Boutik are very close personal friends of the founders, Joseph and Brian,
and are the leading artists in their fields. They, along with other reputable
local Ghanaian artisans, provide the items you see for sale on our web site.
Our primary objective
is to offer you authentic African handmade items of superior quality and value,
which is unsurpassed by any other. We hope you enjoy your visit, and that you
